Janet graduated with a Bachelor of Education in 1984 and taught in regular and special education classrooms for eight years. In 1992, Janet graduated from Sydney University with a Bachelor of Applied Science Occupational Therapy (OT). In February 1994, Janet opened her private practice, consulting for handwriting, learning difficulties and fine and gross motor skills.
Ongoing education is an important principle for all professionals. Janet continually attends conferences and seminars to upgrade knowledge and skills. She travelled to the USA to do the Sensory Integration Praxis Test Administration Course and in March 2017 she went on the world Federation of Occupational Therapist (WFOT) tour of China. She learnt about occupational therapy in China with visits to hospitals and clinics, participating in meetings with OT's, students and educators.
Janet is a registered occupational therapist with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency). She regularly gives professional presentations to parents, teachers and health professionals on learning and Occupational Therapy topics. Janet is best known for her contributions to learning difficulties and for her work for SPELD NSW where she was a committee member from 1995 to 1998. Janet continues to run successful handwriting and perceptual motor handwriting courses in schools and at her rooms. These courses aim to develop the physical skills needed for handwriting. Combining a caring attitude towards her student, plus knowledge and expertise from two professions enables Janet to design specialised and unique programs.
